Miss Cooper's Classroom Environment
Miss Cooper's classroom environment is very fast paced, and energetic. Student are expected to always be engaged at their learning levels.
In math students, are always involved in the problem solving process, and randomly expected to respond. The random responses usually come from pulling a stick, that way no student ever is aware if they will be required to respond, or not. We work as a team, so everyone will be able to respond!
In science, students are provided materials and given a task. They are guided in the process, if necessary.
In spelling, students are given lists at their ability level.
In reading, students are given fluency at their reading ability level. They are grouped together with students with similar abilities.
The classroom stays very organized, and students are expected to remain organized.
Miss Cooper always tries to relate all learning to the real world. With that being said, students are "paid" for certain behaviors, grades, and jobs. All students are given a transaction sheet where they must balance their budget. Students are paid daily for behavior and completion of homework. Students are paid biweekly for their assigned classroom job. Students are given bonuses at the end of each term for final grades and citizenship grades. The opposite can also happen; they can be fined for behavior, homework completion, misbehavior, etc. At the end of each term a "Market Day" is held in which students who meet the requirements, can attend. Requirements are given in detail to the students, please contact me if you have any questions regarding details. Students are given the option to make things for "Market Day" but are not required to.
